Hello MC. It's lovely to have a post from you again. However, I have already sponsored this person I found at Maths Teaching Resources. My Maths degree is forty years old, so I am very out of touch (especially as I've only worked in computers).

I remember Mr Schofield as a lively and enthusiastic teacher. Even though I was never taught by him, his character and personality leave a lasting impression on my mind as he was simply such a passionate man towards his profession and all of the people he knew and worked with.

The sad news of his passing away shocked me greatly. He will always be remembered. To a great man. x

This great man not only taught me physics, but talked Rugby League with me endlessly througout our lessons. Upon hearing the sad news of his passing away, I have neve seen so many people cry in one room before, a tribute to how brilliant this man really was. To an inspirational teacher and person, God bless.

I was going through my blogroll tonight and seeing who deleted their blog and whatnot and came to this post.
Good God, now I know why I haven't heard from you.
I, too, am so sorry.
Mum is flying with the angels and though that's little comfort, she is no longer suffering from this insidious disease.
My father is currently knocking on the door and I'm sorry to say it won't be much longer before you see a post such as this one at my place.
I watched a movie the other night and wonder if it wouldn't do your heart some good.
If you stop by, find a post called, "Not a chance . . . "
My heart and prayers go out to you, MC.
Please keep the faith and drop me a line to let me know how you're doing.

My first science lesson is one of the strongest year 7 memories I have. I think John Schofield was the first teacher i'd come across (bear in mind I went to three primary schools) who actually taught me was REAL teaching was about. Of course i'd come across excellent teachers before - but he was the first (and still the best) example of a teacher who inspires purely by being passionate about his subject.

I was, and still am, quite terrible at science, but physics with Mr.Schofield was always something to look forward to. I think lots of teachers feel they have to lead an alternate professional personality - wheras Schofield was always just himself, whether he was playing with his toy train (people who've been shown his train in one of his physics lesson will know the one i'm talking about), defing the laws of conventional health and safety rules (playing with bunsen burners, flinging books around, messing with electrity...) or exchanging rock music album recommendations with us.

I was completely honoured to play drums for the Schofield rendition of My Generator - and i can honestly say on behalf of the whole band, it was an experience that we'll treasure forever.

When I heard the news, I decided that i'd make it my life's ambition to make a statue of him. As an artist, i'm unfortunately not as developed in the sculpting area, but i'm determined to work on my skills in that area until i'm professional enough to create a statue that'll do him justice.

I don't believe in the afterlife, but i'm comforted by the fact that someone like John Schofield can never really die, after making such a big impression on so many people - and that his daughter will grow up hearing what an amazing man her father was.

It's always been my belief that life moves forward and not backward.
J'ai toujours pensé que la vie avance et qu'elle ne recule pas
So you have to think about the future and I wish you the best for 2008!
Alors il faut penser au futur et je ne vous souhaite que de belles choses pour 2008
